Based on Mark Twain's novel, 'The Millionaire Pound Note' takes an interesting satirical look at the hypocrisy stemming from class distinction in the 50s England. England is a country where class and wealth are given extreme significance, especially among the rich. The film shows the hypocrisy that existed among these people, how the rich are quick to change face when in an instant they find out that you're a man of wealth and how within the next moment they revert back to their condescending selves when all wealth is lost. Interestingly, 'The Millionaire' also briefly looks at how the English perceived Americans in that era. Rich Americans were welcomed as outsiders and the poor were quickly shunned away. The fact that he's an outsider either makes him more appealing or the complete opposite. The story sticks to the main theme by emphasizing on the hypocrisy of the upper class society but at the same time it also creates a balance that prevents the movie from being a mockery of the British society. The movie drags at some point but the love story appears at the right time and there is plenty of comedy to keep one entertained. A charming Gregory Peck totally nails the part and the luminous Jane Griffiths is a treat. Reginald Beckwith, as Peck's sidekick Rock is amusing. The ending is a little predictable but the director does an overall good job by rounding it up and presenting his points.

In my opinion, it is impossible for every rich girl to act like a well-behaved princess, but Sara, the heroine of the novel, did it! She was an imaginative little girl who had such intelligent small face and such perfect manners. Sara was a very nice girl who had a gentle, appreciative ways of saying, such as “If you please” “Thank you” which was very charming. So, not only her teachers and classmates liked her, but also her servants liked her. There was a time when Sara became a poor and pitiful servant insulted by the snobbish headmaster of the school. In spite of this, she had never complained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had endured. Sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kind-hearted just like before and she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. No matter when, Sara acted like a princess, and on account of this, she had accomplished a great deal of miracles over and over again.
After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London. From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring.
Truly, every girl is a princess coming into common life. The “princess” I mean is not a princess living in the palace and being regarded as the apple of everyone’s eye. As the matter of fact, the “princess” is at heart. I am in the belief that every ordinary girl in the world can be a princess. The way for a girl to be a princess is quite simple. Just suppose! Sense and Sensibility was the first Jane Austen published. Though she initially called it Elinor and Marianne, Austen jettisoned both the title and the epistolary mode in which it was originally written, but kept the essential theme: the necessity of finding a workable middle ground between passion and reason. The story revolves around the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne. Whereas the former is a sensible, rational creature, her younger sister is wildly romantic--a characteristic that offers Austen plenty of scope for both satire and compassion. Commenting on Edward Ferrars, a potential suitor for Elinor's hand, Marianne admits that while she “loves him tenderly,” she finds him disappointing as a possible lover for her sister.
Soon however, Marianne meets a man who measures up to her ideal: Mr. Willoughby, a new neighbor. So swept away by passion is Marianne that her behavior begins to border on the scandalous. Then Willoughby abandons her; meanwhile, Elinor's growing affection for Edward suffers a check when he admits he is secretly engaged to a childhood sweetheart. How each of the sisters reacts to their romantic misfortunes, and the lessons they draw before coming finally to the requisite happy ending forms the heart of the novel. Though Marianne's disregard for social conventions and willingness to consider the world well-lost for love may appeal to modern readers, it is Elinor whom Austen herself most evidently admired; a truly happy marriage, she shows us, exists only where sense and sensibility meet and mix in proper measure.

近期一直在学习《马承与英语三位一体教学法》一书，作者马承老师的外语教学法是我国外语教学法的重要流派之一，他的“英语三位一体教学法”包括小学阶段的“字母、音素、音标”三位一体教学法，初中阶段的“词汇、语法、阅读”三位一体教学法。这两种教学法都是深受广大师生欢迎的教学法。
在学习过程中，我对马承老师的“字母、音素、音标”三位一体教学法尤为感兴趣。因为这种教学法对现行的小学音标教学十分适用。在pep小学英语教材里，音标教学虽然被安排在c部分，新课标中也没有明确指出小学阶段是否要掌握48个音标，但音标教学仍是小学阶段英语教学的重要一环。
学好语音符号将为中学英语词汇学习打下坚实的基础。这与马承老师的“字母、音素、音标”三位一体教学法所主张的语音教学观是一致的。换言之，语音教学的成败直接关系到学生能否对英语学习保持浓厚的兴趣。

陈婷的新课程标准指出，迅速提高青年人的信息素养是渗透到全体素质教师中的核心要素。英语基本能力、信息意识和能力已成为当代公民必备的素质。在小学阶段听、说、读、写是学习和运用语言必备的四项基本技能，是学生进行交际的重要形式，是他们形成综合语言运用能力，即培养用英语这一重要载体，获取信息和处理信息的素质的重要基础和手段。
其中的“写”是运用书面语表达思想，输出信息的能力。在小学高年级阶段，可以给学生更多的机会练习写作。也就是说，围绕一个主题，表达清楚，语法正确，句子流畅，一般是六到十个句子。
但于听说相比，小学生的写作能力相对较弱，因此教师需要教会他们一定的方法和技巧。如何提高学生作为英语教师的写作能力？
1、 多读，多读，积累写作材料。
学生应记住经典句型并阅读课文。英语和汉语属于不同的语系。语法结构和表达习惯有很大的差异。通过阅读课文，学生可以增强他们的英语意识。
正确的英语语感不仅能帮助学生阅读和理解课文，而且能帮助学生准确地写作。诵读课文有利于学生写作。小学生善于模仿。通过阅读课文，一些优美的句子会在学生心中扎根，学生会自觉或不自觉地模仿和写作。
记忆中的文本和句型也是学生在写作中处理句子的基础。学生根据所记忆的课文和句型进行写作，才会最大限度地避免中国式的表达习惯，摆脱母语的影响，才会写出语法正确，句意通顺，结构严谨规范的作文。
2增加课外阅读量。教师应该经常指导他们在课后读一些通俗有趣的英语短文，在阅读中注意常用的句子结构，习惯的表达形式和用法，尤其是句法、语法典型的句子或篇章，让典型的语言材料在多次反复的信息冲击下沉淀下来，成为他们记忆的一部分，从而逐渐减少低级简单的错误。要想让学生能轻松地写出语段的前提是必须让他们提高课外阅读量，只有语言文字的输入大于输出，才可能保证学生的语言输出量。
2、 先说，再写，构思写作框架。
每次写作之前应让学生进行一次“brain storm”即头脑风暴。根据要写的题目，让学生思考几分钟，然后进行课堂讨论。例如短文以“birthday party”为题，可以先让学生谈谈开生日派对的准备工作，开时可进行的活动，可做的事情，大家的心情等等。
教师可在黑板上列出重要的词组和句型，例如：blow out the candles, have a big birthday cake, sing a song等等，然后让学生进行写作，已经开过生日派对的学生可以使用一般过去时，没开过的同学可以使用一般将来时进行写作，想象一下自己以后想要的生日派对是什么样的。教师特别注意鼓励后进生讲话。
因为这部分学生不爱读书、不爱说话，他们总觉得自卑。通常课堂上回答问题、朗读、对话、角色扮演通常都是一些英语成绩好的学生，后进生几乎没有表现的机会。老师应在指导时多给这部分学生机会，鼓励他们开口，根据主题尽量多说，在英语活动中消除自卑感，增加学习兴趣，在活动中提高英语能力。

” ；一般过去时“i had a birthday party yesterday, …”小学基本的四种时态都可以充分地在邮件中运用。
总之，英语写作是综合语言运用能力的体现，是不可能一蹴而就的。这需要扎实的基本功、良好的写作习惯、坚持不懈的训练，最终才能逐步形成。
